As one of surfing's most distinguished photographers, David "Nelly" Nelson has captured some of the sport's greatest moments. When the waves aren't providing, though, chances are he's walking 18 at various courses around the globe. A few months ago, we caught up with the Santa Cruz native on the iconic North Shore of Oahu, where he gave us the rundown on family, the perils of his art, and being ready for life's unpredictable elements with the LS Boardwalker.
